LAS VEGAS - Today, South Point Hotel and Casino, the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), Las Vegas Events (LVE), and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced an 12-year deal to host several annual USBC events, including the USBC Open Championships and USBC Women’s Championships, both citywide and inside a new, $30 million bowling tournament facility at South Point starting in 2013.
“Las Vegas is excited to continue a partnership with the United States Bowling Congress that began four decades ago when we hosted the USBC Women’s Championships,” said Rossi Ralenkotter, president/CEO for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Las Vegas was also host city for the USBC Open Championships in 1986.
Over the course of the 12-year agreement, USBC will host seven Championship events inside South Point’s new bowling tournament facility, including the USBC Women’s Championships in 2016, 2020 and 2022 and the USBC Open Championships in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023.
The USBC, LVE, and the LVCVA are partnering with South Point to enhance this new agreement by building a permanent, world-class bowling tournament facility at one of Las Vegas’ premier bowling destinations.
Construction of the new arena at South Point will commence in May 2013.

“South Point already runs a premier bowling center where casual fans, amateurs and professionals from all over the world come to play the game they love,” said Michael Gaughan, owner of South Point.
“The creation of a new bowling arena as part of a Las Vegas casino will be an amazing experience for our bowlers to enjoy,” USBC Executive Director Stu Upson said.
Featuring 2,200 guestrooms, South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa overlooks the famous Las Vegas Strip and the serenity of the surrounding landscape.
Each oversized guest room features state-of-the-art LED televisions as well as WiFi with high-speed internet connections.
Guests visiting South Point will experience affordable luxury through a casino offering top-of-the-line gaming technology, more than 60 table games and a race and sports book area featuring separate viewing areas for both horse racing and general sporting events; a wide variety of dining options, including the award-winning Michael’s Gourmet Room; the world-class Costa Del Sur Spa and Salon; a fabulous 400-seat showroom featuring headliner entertainment; a 16-screen Cinemark movie complex; a state-of-the-art, 64-lane bowling center; and a 165,000-square foot convention center.

Impacto turístico y económico de los campeonatos
With participation estimates for the seven Championship events taken into account, event organizers estimate that 27 percent of attendees will have the ability to stay at the South Point, while the remaining 73 percent will occupy rooms throughout the city during event s held for the duration of this agreement.
“We are extremely excited about our partnership with the USBC and South Point Hotel and Casino,” said Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events.

Each participant in match play will bowl six head-to-head games in their group, including a final position round.
At the end of match play, the top finisher in each group - based on 24-game totals including bonus pins - will earn a spot in Sunday’s main stepladder finals.
The player with the top pinfall total will be the No. 1 seed for the main stepladder while the other group leader will be the No.
The bowlers in the third and fourth position in each respective group will face each other in a single-game match with the winner advancing to take on the competitor in the second position.
The qualifying portion of the tournament will feature three five-game blocks for a 15-game total to determine the advancers to bracket play.
As the defending champion, Daugherty is guaranteed a spot in the bracket and can improve his seeding through qualifying.
The bracket matches will be three-game contests with total pinfall determining the winner in each round.
The final match in the Winners Bracket will determine the top seed for the stepladder and give that bowler the advantage of having to be bested twice in the championship round in the true double-elimination format.
The bowler that falls in the finals of the Winners Bracket will be the No.
The player with the top score for three games will earn the No. 3 seed, while the second- and third-highest totals will face off in the opening match as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively.
Super Senior Classic y jugadores veteranos
The National Bowling Stadium, known as the “Taj Mahal of Tenpins,” offers a world-class stage for bowlers of all levels.

Both events have been held at Sam’s Town since 2016, with the Super Senior Classic featuring the top competitors age 60 and older.
That list will include Professional Bowlers Association and USBC Hall of Famers Ron Mohr (2017 and 2022 champion) of Las Vegas and Venezuela’s Amleto Monacelli (2021), Jack Jurek of Lackawanna, New York (2024), St.
Last year, Campbell qualified fourth and then proceeded to run the ladder, defeating Parker Bohn III of Jackson, New Jersey (248-224), John Burkett of Fort Worth, Texas (279-214), and Pete Weber of St.
